I will also agree on Big Big Train here. I have had Gathering Speed since since it came out in 2004 and was very impressed. The Underfall Yard is superb and was my album of the year in 2009 (along with the Whirlwind by Transatlantic). And now English Electric pt1 is possibly my favourite release this year, so thought provoking with great vocals and lyrics.
and follow up message:
Well since posting above I have been on You tube again. some kind soul has uploaded the complete album for free listening. Sounds very good on headphones, very impressive playing but it still has no stand out classics, just very well played long complex prog. I feel it is talked of as classic on Prog archives becasue they are obscure and not easy...like Oh I love Anglagard...they are the dogs B*****s. Where is the substance and classic tracks to remember. I am a massive prog fan and have been since 1973, with thousands of LP's and CD's. Why this album is so good and album of the year so far...baffles me.
