Family of Whitney Houston to Bobby Brown: Stay Away from Bobbi Kristina!

The family of Whitney Houston is NOT a fan of Bobby Brown.

Following reports that his former in-laws are trying to bar him from his ex-wife's funeral this Saturday, sources now say Houston's loved ones are taking it a step further: They don't want Brown having contact with his daughter.

Peace, Bobby Brown

Specifically, Whitney's mother, Cissy, is attempting to block Bobby from getting too close to 18-year old Bobbi Kristina because she believes the singer is simply looking for a cut of Houston's estate/fortune, estimated to be over $20 million.

The bad blood between parties is nothing new, either, as many of Whitney's family members blame Brown for being a negative influence on both his ex-wife and his daughter, who has also reportedly struggled with drugs and alcohol.

Perhaps, though, if anything positive can come out of Whitney's death, it can serve as a wake up call for all involved and a reformed Brown and mend his and his child's relationship.

Libyan militias parade through Tripoli

Thousands of fighters from across western Libya have held a mass parade in Tripoli, showing off heavy machine guns and rocket launchers and firing rifles in the air.

The procession Tuesday was a show of force by members of some 100 militias that announced a new, unified military council the day before.

It appeared intended as a warning to anyone who might stage attacks during celebrations this week of the one-year anniversary of the start of the uprising that ended with the death of Moammar Gadhafi last October.

Fears of pro-Gadhafi activities have mounted following a call by one of his sons for a new uprising.

The National Transitional Council that now rules Libya has struggled to control the hundreds of brigades that fought in the war.

He loves? He loves me not?

?

Valentine?s Day marks a day for couples and sweethearts to celebrate their love and treasure their time together. Unfortunately, far too many?teen dating?relationships are filled with violence and turmoil.?

February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. Teen Dating Violence (DV) Prevention and Awareness Month is a national effort to raise awareness about abuse in teen and 20-something relationships and promote programs that prevent it during the month of February.

Like domestic violence, teen dating violence is a pattern of controlling, and abusive behaviors of one person over another within a romantic relationship. It can include verbal, emotional, physical, sexual, and financial abuse. It can occur in both heterosexual and homosexual relationships. It knows no boundaries and crosses race, socio-economic status, culture, and religion. Violence can happen to anyone.

Annually, 1 out of 11 adolescents reports being a victim of physical dating abuse (CDC 2006). Many of these cases of teen dating violence could have been prevented by helping adolescents to develop skills for healthy relationships with others (Foshee et al. 2005). Like adults, teenagers can choose better relationships when they learn to identify the early warning signs of an abusive relationship, understand that they have choices, and believe they are valuable people who deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

Access to information is integral to breaking the cycle of violence. Toward that goal, I would like to direct your attention to very help informational resources related to domestic violence intervention, prevention, and community outreach. For further information on teen dating violence, here are several websites you can visit: www.thesafespace.org; and www.breakthecycle.org.
